In-Depth Instruction for Professionals

Training with a clicker is as simple as sitting on a horse, right? Simple—and complex! Training well using Positive Reinforcement requires time, self-discipline, physical skill, experience, and mental creativity. And it’s incredibly fun. Nothing replaces in-person learning, with repeated submersion in both the science and the art of Positive Reinforcement with an expert teacher. If your goal is to excel at R+ training and to have the confidence and skill to meet the exploding demand to teach others, start with a First Level Workshop taught by experienced behavorist Shawna Karrasch.

First Level Intensive Workshops

Terra Nova’s Intensive Workshops are for those who want an immersive learning experience with Positive Reinforcement Training. At a First Level Workshop, we want you to go home feeling confident that you can apply your new skills on your own. For both amateurs and professionals, this is the foundation you need to really use Positive Reinforcement either as a pure training method or within a traditional equestrian setting. You’ll experience 5 hours each day of watching and participating in hands-on training and coaching with Shawna Karrasch and eventing and dressage trainer Gilly Slayter.

Scholarships and Financial Assistance

At Terra Nova Equestrian Training Center, we want to build a strong base of skilled practitioners and qualified instructors of positive reinforcement training for equines all over North America. We’ve also witnessed the profound psychological impact of reward-based training of an equine on the human trainer. It’s completely force-free, fun and deeply rewarding. We invite applications for financial assistance for the purpose of attending our clinics and workshops.
